Phelise fic
Hi! Here is another attempt of mine to write an Idol fic. This a phelise story (again), and again inspired by a song. It is a brazilian song called “Mais Uma de Amor” (another love thing). This song is about being in love with someone but never doing anything about it because there was no reason for it. The feeling itself was enough.
I didn’t like how I ended this fic but I felt like I would go on forever and since I didn’t want it to be a very long fic, I stopped and decided to end it right where I was.
So, if you have the time, give it a shot.

Just Another Love Thing
(Phillip and Elise)
He watched her from afar, somewhat hidden behind the instruments, but not quite. They were all busy trying out their outfits for tour that no one noticed he had reclused himself in that spot with his guitar in hand. It was no surprise to anyone there that Phillip wasn’t that much thrilled about dress rehearsals. He understood it was part of the job but he wasn’t a fan.
He watched the girls beam in excitement over their outfits and even let out a small laugh when he saw Joshua and Colton being more engrossed in those outfits than the girls themselves. Phillip had to suppress the urge to tease them about it.
As the time went by people finally began to miss him and then he was brought back into action. He did his best and tried his outfits as fast as he could, so he soon was done with them. As for the rest of his mates, only HeeJun and Deandre had finished. HeeJun was now mocking Erika on her every piece she tried on and Deandre was too busy admiring Jessica to be much of a company to Phillip. He didn’t mind, though. Watching his friends enjoy themselves was also fun.
With no much word, Phillip returned to his spot behind the instruments. His guitar now secured in its case. He sat and his eyes aimlessly wandered through the room, sluggishly scanning every seemingly insignificant thing around until he stopped at her smile.
Elise… She had a wide smile plastered on her face. She was enjoying herself as much as any other woman would but somehow every little thing about her seemed different – felt different to him.
He watched her parade her outfits as if she was a model, rocking out with an invisible mic and an air guitar. He caught himself smiling at her every motion and couldn’t deny the fact that he thought she looked beautiful, nonetheless. But it was a particular dress that got him hypnotized.
Elise came out of the dressing room wearing a short, flirty length black-aztec summer dress with a wide V neck, a plunging V back and with an asymmetrical ruffle overlay at the bodice. But of course, Phillip had no idea of what a bodice was or that black-aztec was even considered a color; all he knew was how breathtaking she looked in that dress and how it allowed the small of her back and sun-kissed perfectly shaped legs to be strategically exposed.
Phillip was lost in reverie when a voice forced him back to reality.
“Look but don’t touch.” HeeJun’s voice barely echoed in Phillip’s ears but it was enough to draw his attention, so HeeJun teased again. “Look but don’t touch!”
“What?” Phillip asked as if in confusion. Eyes narrowed in wonder as he turned and stared at his best friend’s face.
HeeJun would have loved to keep on teasing Phillip but he knew very well that teasing was the last thing his friend needed. Even though Phillip never openly talked about his feelings towards Elise, HeeJun wasn’t blind; he was silly, playful, funny and so much more, but he definitely wasn’t blind.
HeeJun motioned with his head to where Elise was and Phillip quickly glanced her way but returned to look at his friend.
“I… I… I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He stuttered, denying the obvious.
HeeJun opened his mouth as if he was about to talk but no words were heard from him. He only silently nodded. Phillip eyed him in suspicious knowing that HeeJun’s silence was actually louder than any words he would have said.
“It’s true!” Phillip explained, forcing out a smile. But HeeJun remained silent. He pouted and sighed as he cast glances at Elise’s way.
Phillip snorted out a laugh and continued to present his case. “I mean it… Come on, not you too. You know me, man!”
“Sure…” HeeJun decided it was better not argue with his friend. It was no use in doing it so. Besides, he didn’t have to do anything; Phillip was already delivering his truth by denying everything. “If you say so, I believe.”
Phillip watched his friend and then looked over at Elise again. She was gone, probably went to change into another outfit or sleep her own clothes back on.
HeeJun observed the unsaid emotions dancing in Phillip’s eyes during those seconds. It is so obvious. Why can’t he see that he is in love with her? What is the point in denying it? HeeJun thought. But instead of pushing it he offered his friend a sympathetic patting on his back. After that HeeJun left Phillip dealing with his own inner demons.
Even though he didn’t want to admit, it was true. He did feel something for Elise. Something that he couldn’t exactly explain or even understand. She soothed him, inspired him. Elise made him feel as if he was able to do everything and anything. He didn’t have to pretend to be someone else when he was around her. She understood him like no one else.
She understands me better than Ha… He stopped himself from finishing that thought.
Phillip let out a heavy sigh and ran his hand through his ruffled hair. How come a perfect warm feeling turned into a completely mess in matter of minutes? He asked himself thinking back when he felt happy just by watching his friends having fun, and then there was her…
There is always her…
He wanted to be able to sort out his feelings and end this juvenile, hormone-driven crush he had developed towards her. But the more he told himself to let it go, the more he wanted her.
And there was Hannah…
Phillip loved his girlfriend; she was his best friend. Hannah was the person he trusted the most in the whole world. She was the one that encouraged him to be a better person and pursue his dreams no matter what.
He couldn’t do such a thing to her. He wasn’t that type of man. He was honest and wanted to honor everything Hannah had done for him. He wanted to be good to her and love her how she deserved to be loved.
But he felt powerless before his own twisted feelings. Elise was a distraction and even though he tried to keep some distance from her, he often caught himself hovering around her. Phillip thought he was doing a good job in hiding his feelings but HeeJun’s warning comment made him realize he was actually failing miserably.
Has she noticed? Does she know? Phillip wondered.
Phillip always thought she acted more girly like whenever she was around him but then he reasoned it was his own imagination since she acted a little flirtatious with everybody else. It was just how she was.
Elise was cheerful and had wide warm smiles to each and every one that was around her. She was very inspiring and maybe that was what called him his attention the most. She was strong and yet fragile. She was self-sufficient and yet needy. She kept her cool during hard times and then couldn’t wait to be alone so she could release her tears.
“Let’s eat.”
Phillip didn’t mind the person talking to him. His eyes blankly stared ahead as he still traveled through his mind.
“Hey? Earth to Phillip?”
Hands playfully dancing before his face, attempting to bring him back.
“Hey? Hello??!! Is there anybody there?”
She called louder, still in playful voice but it was her laugh at the end of her sentence that caught his ears.
His eyes slowly turned to look at her. Elise… She was standing before him, back in her normal clothes and with a smile on her face.
Of course. It is her. He bitterly added.
“Aren’t you coming?” She asked, assuming he had heard her first question. But Phillip frowned, not knowing what she was talking about. “We’re going out to get some lunch. Aren’t you coming?”
There was something about how she always ended her sentences with a laugh that made him want to reach out and kiss her. But he wouldn’t do that. He just couldn’t.
Again, his hand ruffled through his hair. “Uh… Humm… No… You guys can go. I… I have to… to…” Phillip didn’t know what to say. He only wanted to be left alone. He knew he couldn’t be around her. Not now.
Elise watched him clumsily trying to come up with an excuse for not joining them for lunch and couldn’t help but think how adorable he looked right there. And with that thought, she lowered her eyes and warmly smiled.
“What?” He asked in a husky tone, also self-consciously smiling. The slightest difference in her smile hadn’t gone unnoticed by him.
Elise brought her eyes back up and found his. They both fell in silence for a moment until their half-nervous, half-self-conscious laughs echoed.
“I have some stuff to do, so…” Phillip resumed to his excuse, awkwardly sticking his hands in his pockets.
Elise simply nodded in return. “Ok… See you later.”
With that she left him. He stayed in his spot until she and all the others had disappeared through the door.
Phillip looked around, there were still a few staff members there, gathering and placing things back at their original places. He thought of staying but decided against it, so he went driving. He wasn’t hungry, so he just drove to clear his head a little.
As urban landscapes passed him by, Phillip admitted to himself that sooner or later he would have to step up and face the reality of his feelings. He wasn’t sure about how deep his emotions went but he was sure they weren’t fading fast.
Sure he knew that it was vain to keep on hiding away from it, especially when her presence reverberated everywhere. But whatever Phillip had with Elise, to him it felt like it was a beautiful dream bound to become a beautiful memory.
But right now he would pay no much attention to it. He would only allow himself to feel this dream and be renewed by it. No, he wasn’t lying to himself, he was avoiding facing facts but it was only because deep down, he didn’t want to let go of this feelings; not yet.
And even though he couldn’t reach out and touch her, even though he couldn’t hear her voice whispering in his ears, her radiance and her warmth followed him everywhere, and to him, that was enough.
Phillip didn’t need to be sure of his feelings for Elise and he sure didn’t need to know what she really felt for him. It didn’t matter anymore.
Truth was that deep down he knew that some people are meant to fall in love with each other but not meant to be together…
The end.
